The final five candidates for the “BrickLink Designer Program Series 8 (BDP8)”—a crowdfunding initiative under the BrickLink brand, a LEGO® Group-owned parts database and marketplace—have been selected.
While the BrickLink Designer Program shares the concept of turning fan-made models into official sets like LEGO® Ideas, it often features categories that are less commonly approved in LEGO® Ideas, such as medieval or non-licensed buildings.
Crowdfunding to Launch in June 2026
The crowdfunding (pre-order) phase for “BrickLink Designer Program Series 8” is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM (PDT) on June 1, 2026. Please note that the date and time are subject to change. BDP8 Campaign Page
Only models that receive more than 3,000 pre-orders will proceed to production. To date, however, no model has failed to reach the 3,000-order minimum.

Brick Railroad: Diesel-Electric-Locomotive (A-Unit)
Designer: ThomasRoeder | 1428 pcs | View project page
The model presented here consists of an A-unit. The original was built in the USA in the early 1950s and became a true icon there. Wheter freight or passenger trains, its use was everywhere.
The model reflects the condition of the early 1970s, when some models were converted from their original red/metallic look to a blue/yellow look. I chose the color combination because it allowed the curves to be reprensented with corresponding bricks without the need for additional stickers.
Coconut Cape
Designer: BallisticBricks | 2425 pcs | igner-program/series-8/2917/Coconut-Cape”>View project page
Land Ho! With its strong walls and strategic defenses, Coconut Cape serves as a guardian of the ocean, deterring pirates and ensuring the safety of the surrounding trade routes. It stands as a beacon for ships and a refuge for the weary. Remember to always keep an eye out for hidden treasure! Buried deep within the walls, a secret compartment reveals precious gold and gems for the plundering!
Dustmark Keep
Designer: brickhucker | 4000 pcs | View project page
Welcome to Dustmark Keep, the sun-scorched heart of the enigmatic Bounty Hunter’s Guild. Nestled deep in the uncharted Outland, far beyond the reach of civilization and the strife of warring factions, this sand-swept fortress thrives in isolation.
University of Science
Designer: KingCreations | 3995 pcs | View project page
Welcome to the University of Science, home of the Owls and the premier higher education center for your minifigures! With this model, I embraced the maximum part count allowed for BDP to create a substantially sized building filled with educational rooms.
Hot Air Balloon
Designer: ExeSandbox | 876 pcs | View project page
I wished 18969 LEGO Panel 4x4x11 Balloon Segment was produced in more colors as the current assortment doesn’t result in a hot air balloon that I felt was satisfactory. To scratch this itch, I set out to make a fully custom design for a hot air balloon with a gradient of colors and a more fuller shape.
To complement this aircraft, a cloud base is included to balance the top-heavy balloon and a pair of seagulls to endlessly annoy our little pilot minifigure (and their dog.)
How much will it cost?
The final crowdfunding price will be determined after the final product design is completed, in coordination between the BrickLink team and each model’s designer.
Based on past pricing, a model with around 4,000 pieces is expected to cost approximately $350, while a 2,500-piece model may cost around $200. However, since the crowdfunding campaign is scheduled for a year from now, prices may fluctuate significantly.
How to purchase
To participate in the crowdfunding, you’ll need a BrickLink account. Ordering is as simple as clicking a button on the campaign page. Your purchase will be handled just like any other transaction on the official LEGO® Shop, ensuring a secure payment process.
The crowdfunding campaign is scheduled to begin on June 1, 2026, at 8:00 AM Pacific Time. Shipping of purchased sets is expected to begin in November 2026. Which one are you getting?
