A ship believed to be the LEGO(R) Icons “Endurance,” expected to be a flagship new product for Black Friday 2024, has been revealed on the theme list page of the official LEGO(R) Shop store.
The ship is used as a thumbnail for LEGO(R) Ideas on the theme list page, and upon closer inspection, three masts with large sails and a white protrusion resembling a chimney can be seen.
As it comes with a stand and plaque (information plate), it’s likely to be an adult-oriented product from LEGO(R) Icons. Or could it be a LEGO(R) Ideas set?
What kind of ship is the Endurance?
The Endurance was a large ship used by the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition led by British explorer Ernest Shackleton, which set sail from Plymouth on August 8, 1914.

It primarily moved using sails on its three masts but also had a 350 horsepower (260 kW) steam engine. It was built to be more robust than ordinary ships to withstand harsh environments as much as possible.
Initially, the voyage progressed smoothly, but the ship became trapped in sea ice near the Antarctic coast. The moving ice gradually damaged the hull, and the ship completely sank on November 21, 1915.

Shackleton, who had realized early on that the sinking of the Endurance was inevitable, had all crew members evacuate to the Antarctic continent before the ship sank. However, long-term survival became extremely difficult.
Due to the outbreak of World War I, rescue from their home country was not expected. The expedition members all boarded lifeboats and aimed to move to Deception Island, 300 kilometers away, where emergency supplies were supposed to be. However, they couldn’t reach it and landed on Elephant Island instead.
As Elephant Island was a barren land off the shipping route, Shackleton and five crew members embarked on a desperate voyage of about 1500 kilometers (almost the same distance as Tokyo to Okinawa) in the “James Caird,” a lifeboat only 7 meters long, to seek rescue at South Georgia Island, where there was a whaling station. They successfully reached their destination.

Afterward, Shackleton attempted to rescue the crew members left on Elephant Island and succeeded on his fourth attempt, reaching the island. All 22 crew members stranded on the island survived.
The Endurance Today
On March 5, 2022, more than 100 years after its sinking in 1915, a research team discovered the Endurance at the bottom of the Weddell Sea, about 3,000 meters deep off the coast of Antarctica. It is said to be very well preserved due to the low water temperature and lack of light in the environment. For reference: Endurance (1912 ship)@Wikipedia

When will the Endurance be released?
The LEGO(R) Icons “Endurance” is expected to be a new product launched during Black Friday, which is likely to start on November 22 or 29 at the official LEGO(R) Shop store.
There are also predictions that the lifeboat, which is essential to the miraculous story of the Endurance, will be distributed as a special purchase bonus, but everything remains unconfirmed until the official announcement.
