According to social media and multiple media reports, a LEGO (R) set in collaboration with Nintendo Switch’s blockbuster game “Animal Crossing” series is expected to be released in March 2024.

I don’t know the product name, but given the expected number of pieces and price, it’s a small to medium sized playset. It would be nice if there was a function that could be played in conjunction with the actual game!

Collaboration between Nintendo and the LEGO Group
The LEGO(R) Group released their first collaboration product with Nintendo, the LEGO(R) Super Mario series, in July 2020.
The LEGO(R) Super Mario series has gained immense popularity as a highly innovative digital toy line within the LEGO(R) block products. It features the Starter Set, which includes Mario, Luigi, and Peach with displays that show changing facial expressions and sound effects, and also allows cooperative play with Bluetooth connectivity.
Since its initial release, the series has continued to expand actively, with the introduction of sets like the Donkey Kong set and sets targeted at adult audiences. Even after over three years since its launch, the LEGO(R) Super Mario series remains in high demand.
Other collaboration series with Nintendo, apart from Super Mario, are also expected to include new products with themes based on unofficially revealed information such as Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda.
Reference Information
In the late 1960s, Nintendo released a block toy called N&B Blocks.
N&B Blocks were nearly compatible in size with LEGO(R) blocks, which led to a legal dispute. However, Nintendo won the case due to the use of unique elements like circular and conical parts, which were not present in LEGO(R) blocks at that time.
Subsequently, Nintendo shifted its focus to electronic toys like the Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System), and as a result, the sales of N&B Blocks declined and were discontinued within a few years.
Popular with Lego (R) ideas
In the LEGO(R) Ideas contest, which aims to turn fan designs into official LEGO(R) products, both Animal Crossing and The Legend of Zelda have been incredibly popular and have made it to the review stage multiple times. However, none of them have been approved for production.
Currently, The Legend of Zelda is prohibited from entry in the LEGO(R) Ideas contest, which suggests that the LEGO(R) Group might develop and release their own products based on the theme in the near future.
Collaboration with Lego (R) Dots
In 2020, a collaboration event was held in which the LEGO (R) Dots pattern could be used in the “Gathering His Animal Crossing” game.
I am very excited to see if the Animal Crossing LEGO set will actually be released and what kind of set it will be. For those who haven’t played the game yet, it might be a good idea to try it out now.
