“Wallace and Gromit” Finally Set for Production: Fourth LEGO(R) Ideas Attempt Comes to Fruition
In the project “LEGO(R) Ideas,” where user-submitted creations are considered for production, a set themed on “Wallace and Gromit” has been approved for manufacturing. The announcement was made as part of the results for the second round of the “Memories of the 90s Contest,” where a submission based on “The X-Files” was also approved simultaneously.
“Wallace and Gromit” is a clay animation series created by Nick Park. It depicts the everyday life and adventures of the inventor Wallace and his beloved dog Gromit, and is widely known as one of the United Kingdom’s most popular works.
This world has also gained strong support among fans of LEGO(R) bricks and has been a popular theme repeatedly attempted in LEGO(R) Ideas. This article looks back on the history of those attempts.
First Attempt (Advanced to 2020 Third Review)
The first time advancing to review was in 2020. It surpassed 10,000 votes in just a few days after release, advancing to review with overwhelming speed.
The content focused mainly on character figures including Wallace, Gromit, and Shaun the Sheep. However, the result was a rejection.
Second Attempt (Advanced to 2022 Third Review)
In the retry two years later, a full-scale diorama-style set combining structures such as the house and car featured in the series along with the characters was submitted. However, this attempt was also rejected.
Third Attempt (Advanced to 2024 Second Review)
The third submission focused on the iconic episode “A Grand Day Out,” in which Wallace and Gromit travel to the moon in search of cheese. The builder was the same as the second attempt. Featuring key elements such as the rocket and the duo in spacesuits, it was considered a strong contender but was unfortunately not approved.
Fourth Attempt (Approved in the 2nd Round of the Memories of the 90s Contest)
Finally, in 2025, the long-awaited production was approved in the second round of the LEGO(R) Ideas “Memories of the 90s Contest.”
This contest was held under the limitation of a maximum of 1,000 pieces, and the simple yet iconic composition of Wallace and Gromit riding a motorcycle with a sidecar received high praise.

Timeless Appeal Shown in the Memories of the 90s Contest
The “Memories of the 90s Contest” was held in two parts: the first with a piece limit of 5,000 and the second with a limit of 1,000 pieces. The first round selected “The X-Files,” aimed at adult hobbyists, while the second round chose “Wallace and Gromit,” a theme familiar and accessible even to younger audiences.
Currently, LEGO(R) Ideas is effectively an adult-oriented brand, with products limited to those targeting ages 18 and above. However, “Wallace and Gromit,” with its humor and expressions, is beloved across a wide range of generations and can be considered a work that is easy for children to accept as well. The selection of these two works reflects a well-balanced choice aimed at appealing to different demographics.
The release date is undecided, but there are currently nearly 10 approved projects waiting for release within LEGO(R) Ideas. If the order is followed, this set is expected to be released no earlier than mid-2026.
LEGO(R) Ideas allows anyone aged 16 or older to submit their creations, and those who obtain 10,000 votes advance to the review stage. If a product is approved, the creator receives royalties based on sales. Brick fans confident in their building skills are encouraged to take on the next challenge.
