Perched atop a hill in southern Germany near the Austrian border, Neuschwanstein Castle is a breathtaking landmark that many recognize from photographs. Built in the 19th century by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, it is considered one of the most beautiful castles in the world.

Also known as the “Castle of the Swan,” this architectural masterpiece was born from the king’s deep admiration for medieval chivalry and romance, boasting a fairy-tale-like appearance that seems to have stepped right out of a storybook.

Neuschwanstein Castle is said to be most beautiful when viewed from the Marienbrücke (Mary’s Bridge) spanning the Pöllat Gorge. Here is the actual view.

A standout feature of this set is its depiction of the surrounding natural environment. Coniferous and deciduous trees are skillfully arranged to evoke the beauty of the Bavarian forest. The deciduous trees can be configured in two variations — autumn colors and green foliage — allowing builders to enjoy seasonal changes.

The castle’s architectural highlights, including its stunning spires and meticulously crafted turrets, showcase a fantastical blend of Romanesque Revival and Gothic Revival styles inspired by medieval European knight’s castles. This enchanting architectural beauty is impressively recreated with LEGO® bricks.

From the placement of windows to the shapes of roofs and the texture of the exterior walls, the model captures the grandeur and elegance of the real castle in exquisite detail.
