Modern architecture in Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania.
Designed by architect Arnas Funkas. The construction plan was approved on January 16, 1933 and completed on October 16 of the same year.
It features a free and innovative arrangement of windows that adopts the corners, curves, and circles of the building.
Actual Building
The building was nationalized during the Soviet era and used as offices for several government-affiliated organizations.
It still exists in Kaunas, Lithuania, and can be seen on Google Maps Street View.
What Kind of City is Kaunas?
Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania and developed as a center of trade requiring a river port.
In 1900, when the capital Vilnius was occupied by Russia and Poland, it functioned as a temporary capital.
Can Pass the Review?
Designer Rock the Brick11216 has only this work for LEGO(R)IDEAS now.
The white walls and red lines are beautifully harmonized, making it a fashionable modern building that seems to be suitable for today’s design.
LEGO (R) ideas have so far entered reviews of various local stories such as buildings in Italy and London, and railroads in the United States and Canada, but have never passed the review.
The Orient Express, which was recently decided to be commercialized, can be said to be a local story, but it was operated across several countries, and the novel is famous, so it can be said that it is a content position.
Shinkai 6500, the first LEGO (R) ideas, and Hayabusa asteroid explorer, the second one, are products from the LEGO (R) Cuusoo era, which have different systems than today, so they can’t be used as references.
Historically, it was nationalized by the former Soviet Union and became a base for political activities, so it may be a high hurdle to release from the LEGO (R) idea.
However, for the Lithuanian people, it may be a building with a special feeling, and it is a nice design, so I wish them good luck!
