“Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting” has advanced to the review stage of “LEGO® Ideas,” a project that turns LEGO® brick fans’ creations into products.
If it passes the review, it will be released as a new LEGO® Ideas product between 2025 and 2026.
Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting
Confirmed to advance to the 2nd LEGO Ideas Product Review of 2024 after achieving 10,000 supporters. Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting: LEGO IDEAS Official
A LEGO® brick creation based on the TV show “The Joy of Painting” which aired in the United States from 1983 to 1994.
“The Joy of Painting” was a unique program in which painter Bob Ross completed a landscape painting while explaining the techniques to viewers in a short 30-minute format. He passed away in 1995 due to illness.
This is what the real Bob Ross was like.
This work recreates Season 3 Episode 1 “Mountain Retreat,” which aired on January 11, 1984. The title “Mountain Retreat” means a hideaway in the mountains or a mountain sanctuary.
You can also watch the full episode of “Mountain Retreat” on Bob Ross’s official YouTube channel!
What are the chances of it becoming a product?
This is the first time the creator BrickAbe has advanced to the review stage.
No painting-themed sets have been approved since the release of Van Gogh’s The Starry Night in 2022. Given that it’s been 30 years since the show ended, the chances of passing the review might not be very high.
Summary of 2024 Second Review Entries
If the projects that advanced to the 2024 Second Review pass the review, they are scheduled to be released as new LEGO(R) Ideas products in 2025-2026.
