It has been announced on the official blog that the maximum number of bricks for submissions in the “LEGO(R) Ideas” project, which aims to commercialize fan creations, will increase from 3,000 to 5,000[1].
While LEGO(R) Ideas previously released products for children aged 10 and up or 12 and up, since 2020 it has essentially become an adult-oriented brand targeting those 18 and older. The aim of significantly increasing the brick limit is to expand the range of expression.
With the guideline changes, users submitting works will be able to present larger and more detailed creative pieces, providing an opportunity to showcase their creativity and technical skills more than ever before.
Additionally, works must now have a minimum of 200 bricks, and recommended numbers of minifigures based on brick count have also been published.

However, according to the article, these guidelines are not absolute conditions. For example, exceeding 5,000 bricks by even one piece will not result in immediate disqualification. While the guidelines should be followed in principle, it seems that ultimately, quality will be the deciding factor.
Examples of sets with around 5,000 bricks
Looking at currently available LEGO(R) brick products with piece counts close to 5,000, the proportion of licensed products becomes overwhelmingly high at this scale.
While all of these are priced over 400USD, if non-licensed creations are adopted through LEGO(R) Ideas, they might be set at a slightly lower price point.
