The LEGO® Ideas project, which turns fan creations into official LEGO® sets, holds product review sessions three times a year. These reviews evaluate numerous high-quality entries, and contests where the winning designs are often turned into purchasable sets are also held regularly.
Currently, LEGO® Ideas products are aimed at adults aged 18 and over, featuring intricate designs that are enjoyable to build and display. Many of these models include moving parts, making them great for parent-child playtime.
This time, as of August 2024, we would like to introduce the highly anticipated upcoming LEGO® Ideas sets.

Nightmare Before Christmas
Approved for production in the second review of 2022. This set is based on the 1993 Disney animated film conceived by Tim Burton. It recreates the house of the main character, Jack Skellington, and its surroundings. While not officially announced yet, it is strongly believed to be released in September 2024.
The London red telephone box, which was approved for production alongside The Nightmare Before Christmas, began sales in February 2024.

READING, READING AND READING
Approved for production after winning a contest held from June to July 2023, which focused on expressing what single individuals want to do. The contest winner is set to become a gift with purchase. It is expected to be available for distribution starting in October 2024.
Disney Magic
Approved for production after winning the “100 Years of Fairytales” contest held from June to September 2023, which expressed love for Disney. This was a rare contest featuring a licensed theme. While not officially announced yet, it is strongly believed to be released in October 2024.
Disney-related products are a highly popular series even with LEGO® bricks, so be sure to check them out!
THE BOTANICAL GARDEN
Approved for production in the first review of 2023. Building designs without licensed elements were typically a category that was difficult to get approved in LEGO® Ideas, but this one successfully passed the review. In that sense, it can be considered a groundbreaking creation. It is strongly believed to be released in November 2024.
The LEGO® Friends Botanical Garden, which went on sale before the announcement of the official Botanical Garden set, was also a popular product that was frequently sold out when it was first released.

TWILIGHT: CULLEN HOUSE
Approved for production alongside the Botanical Garden in the first review of 2023. This set features the stylish house from the American vampire movie “Twilight”. The model is based on an actual building located in Portland, Oregon. It’s believed that the evaluation considered both the licensed elements and the unique design of the building itself.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
The set was approved for production after winning a contest held from September to November 2023, which called for STEM-themed creations. The winning entry expresses various elements of science, including nature, rockets, and economists. STEM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Moon Car
The set was approved for production as a gift with purchase after winning the vehicle category in a space-themed contest held from February to March 2024. It features a cool futuristic car with a retro-futuristic atmosphere.
MICRO RAIL COMMAND CENTER
The set was approved for production as a gift with purchase after winning the base category in a space-themed contest held from February to March 2024. It features a command center in the style of Classic Space and a space train.
Space is a strongly promoted theme by the LEGO Group in 2024, with products featuring a common logo being released across multiple series. If you’re interested, check out the space products at the official LEGO Shop store.
WESTERN RIVER STEAMBOAT
Approved for production in the second review of 2023. A paddle steamer that operated on the Mississippi River, featuring a stern wheel and smokestacks.
MINIFIGURE GUMBALL MACHINE
Approved for production in the second review of 2023. A gacha machine that dispenses capsules containing minifigures when the knob is turned. If produced, the contents will likely include mini models in addition to minifigures.
THE AUTUMN SNAILS
Approved for production as a gift with purchase after winning the “Dream Purchase Bonus” contest held from April to May 2024. Despite many high-level entries across all genres, the snail diorama set triumphed.
While the snail set is planned as a gift with purchase, LEGO® Ideas has also recently released an insect set.
LEGO® Ideas The Insect Collection 21342

When you build and display these poseable models filled with captivating details, you can envision the biomes and ecosystems where each insect lives.
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY
Approved for production in the third review of 2023, which was the second attempt for this project. While Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was released as films in 1971 and 2005, this set appears to be designed with elements from both adaptations in mind. It’s expected to be released around mid-2025.
THE ITALIAN RIVIERA
Approved for production in the third review of 2023. This set is modeled after the “Cinque Terre” in Italy, famous for its colorful buildings.
This project successfully passed despite being in a category that was previously difficult to get approved in LEGO® Ideas – local themes without licensed properties. It strongly indicates a changing trend in LEGO® Ideas. The set is expected to be released between early to mid-2025[3].
This concludes the introduction of upcoming products.
The Nightmare Before Christmas, Disney Magic, and The Botanical Garden, which were introduced earlier, along with the gift with purchase Reading, Reading, Reading, are likely to be released or distributed in 2024. The products mentioned after these will probably be released in 2025.
