A social media account known for sharing unofficial LEGO® product news has posted information about the Death Star.

According to the post, a new “Death Star (75419)” is expected to be released in October 2025 as part of the LEGO® Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) aimed at adult collectors. The rumored price? A whopping $999.99 – essentially $1,000.

While this information is speculative until officially announced by LEGO®, let’s explore what we might expect from this galactic superweapon.

The Death Star

The Death Star first appeared in “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” as a massive moon-sized space station with a diameter between 75 to 100 miles (120 to 160 kilometers). An even larger second Death Star appeared in “Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.”

75 to 100 miles is roughly the distance from New York City to Philadelphia or Atlantic City – giving you a sense of just how massive this space station was. According to Wikipedia, the Death Star had a crew of approximately 1.2 million people – which actually seems modest given its size.

For comparison, the cylindrical space colonies seen in series like Gundam were only designed to be about 4 miles (6.5 kilometers) in diameter and 18.6 miles (30 kilometers) long – making the Death Star truly massive in comparison. Reference: Space settlement@Wikipedia

The Superlaser

Perhaps the Death Star’s most infamous feature is its planet-destroying superlaser, powered by kyber crystals (the same crystals used in lightsabers). In the film, Grand Moff Tarkin orders the destruction of Princess Leia’s home planet Alderaan, which is obliterated before her eyes.

What Might the Set Include?

Complete Death Star LEGO® sets were previously released in 2008 and 2016, with the 2016 version priced at $499.99.

While recent UCS sets like the Interceptor and X-wing have focused on detailed exterior modeling with fewer minifigures, a Death Star set would likely need more than just the exterior to be interesting. We might expect a set similar to previous LEGO® Star Wars Death Stars, featuring multiple scenes and play features, possibly with numerous minifigures included.

Piece Count Speculation

The current record for most pieces in a LEGO® set is held by the LEGO® Art World Map (31203) with 11,695 pieces, though the Eiffel Tower (10307) with 10,001 pieces is considered the practical record-holder since the World Map consists mostly of 1×1 tiles.

The 2008 Death Star had 3,803 pieces, while the 2016 version had 4,016 pieces. The 2025 version will likely have more, though doubling to over 10,000 pieces seems unlikely. However, if LEGO® aims for unprecedented detail, it’s not impossible.

Summary

This information about a new LEGO® Star Wars Death Star set remains speculative – the release, price, and features won’t be confirmed until officially announced by LEGO®.

However, given that LEGO® Star Wars released complete Death Star sets in 2008 and again eight years later in 2016, a new version nine years later in 2025 seems plausible.
