The beautiful landscape of Greece, with its iconic white houses dotting the scenery, is captured in this LEGO® brick creation. A highlight of the piece is the meticulously crafted pink bougainvillea flowers adorning the walls.
The stone flooring, a focal point of the design, features intricate patterns with white lines, showcasing the creator’s attention to detail.
Blue, a characteristic color of Greek architecture, evokes the warmth of enjoying wine outdoors on a leisurely holiday.
Why Are Greek Buildings White?
In coastal Mediterranean regions, limestone, abundant and inexpensive, has been traditionally used for walls. Besides cost-effectiveness, it helps regulate indoor temperatures in the scorching sun.
Greek lime plaster is akin to Japanese plaster, boasting antimicrobial properties and mold resistance. Additionally, in regions with minimal rainfall like Greece, it has been historically used for collecting rainwater for domestic purposes.

The reason behind blue roofs remains elusive. While red roofs are prevalent along the Mediterranean coast, blue roofs might represent a nod to the surrounding seascape. While there may be functional reasons, further investigation is encouraged.
