What kind of movie is Jaws?
Jaws is a blockbuster film released in 1975, directed by Steven Spielberg when he was just 27 years old. It established the shark panic genre and is considered the original shark thriller movie.
The story takes place on Amity Island off the American East Coast, where a police chief, a marine biologist, and a professional shark hunter embark on a dramatic battle aboard the “Orca” to eliminate a giant man-eating shark terrorizing the community. The boat’s name, Orca, refers to killer whales, which are generally considered stronger than sharks.
Jaws spawned several sequels, although with different directors.
Watch the LEGO® Jaws Movie!
To celebrate the release of the LEGO® Ideas Jaws set, the LEGO® Group has produced a short movie of “Jaws” using LEGO® bricks. A surprise appearance by a certain someone in minifigure form is included!
Watch the full LEGO® Jaws movie
Jaws can be displayed from head to tail on a dedicated display stand.
To recreate the scene where Jaws emerges from the sea with its mouth wide open, the shark’s body can be split in half.
This design wasn’t in the original fan submission to the LEGO® Ideas competition, but it’s great that it was included in the final product as it’s such an iconic scene from the movie!
The movie title “JAWS” refers to the shark’s mouth, which is represented by this large open mouth. The image of Jaws with its mouth wide open is such a crucial element that it even became the movie title, so it couldn’t be ignored in the LEGO® brick product.
The display size is approximately 60cm from the edge of the base to the tip of the boat.
This summer, why not cool off while feeling the terror of the giant shark by displaying the LEGO® Ideas “Jaws” in your room?
