In the production review process of LEGO® Ideas, a project that brings LEGO® brick fan creations to market, there are cases where submissions enter “continued review” when they cannot be decided in a single review cycle.
This is an extended review period for submissions that require further consideration. What does entering continued review mean for potential production? We investigated the reality through tracking past submissions that entered continued review.
List of Past Continued Review Submissions
To date, 7 submissions have entered continued review in LEGO® Ideas production reviews. Results are still pending for Downton Abbey and Camping Trip.
- Motorized Piano (2019 First Review) | US / CA / AU | Production approved
- Sonic the Hedgehog (2020 First Review) | US / CA / AU | Production approved
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs(2021 First Review) | US / CA / AU | Entered continued review after reaching the second review but was ultimately rejected. However, a similar product was later released as set 43242 from LEGO® Disney. This drew criticism from the original LEGO® Ideas creator and fans.
- Luxo Jr. (2023 Second Review) | US / CA / AU | Production approved after two continued reviews
- The Adventures of Tintin (2024 Second Review) | Production approved
- Downton Abbey (2024 Second Review) | Two continued reviews, awaiting results
- Camping Trip (2024 Third Review) | Awaiting results
This Pixar mascot character “Luxo Jr.” was approved for production after undergoing two continued reviews.

Introduction of the Parking Lot System
In March 2025, an official continued review list called the “Parking Lot” was established.
Submissions with strong appeal that are not approved in their first review can be added to the Parking Lot and receive up to three continued reviews. This formalized the continued review process.
Remarkable Success Rate
Of the 7 submissions that have entered continued review, excluding the 2 submissions still awaiting results (Downton Abbey and Camping Trip), only Snow White failed to reach production among the 5 decided cases – a remarkable record.
Even more noteworthy is that the rejected Snow White submission was later released as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage (43242)” from the LEGO® Disney series in March 2024. It appears the production proceeded as a separate project from LEGO® Ideas.

Considering this, no continued review submission has truly failed to reach production in some form. The effective success rate is 100%.
Are Duplicate Creators Not an Issue?
Interestingly, terauma, the creator of Camping Trip, already has production approval for Gizmo from Gremlins.
While it would normally be difficult to produce two sets from the same creator in close succession, the fact that it entered continued review suggests this is not considered an issue.

Is Continued Review Essentially Production Approval?
Current LEGO® Ideas appears to operate under an unspoken rule of approving at most 2 submissions per review, or 3 including continued reviews. Within this constraint, submissions entering the Parking Lot undoubtedly receive evaluation equivalent to approved productions.
As the name “Parking Lot” suggests, this likely means a state where submissions are “ready for production at any time, depending on timing.” In other words, continued review is not a final examination determining production viability, but rather a process for adjusting production timing.
Continued Review = Almost Guaranteed Production?
What emerges from these facts is the hypothesis that production is almost guaranteed once a submission enters continued review. Based on past records, continued review appears to function more as a “waiting list for production timing coordination” rather than “a review with possibility of rejection.”
If this trend continues, Downton Abbey and Camping Trip, which are still awaiting results, have very high chances of reaching production. Continued review may be a beacon of hope for LEGO® brick fans looking forward to production.
