This creation is a very convenient chess set that can be compactly stored. It seems to have good aesthetics even when displayed, so chess enthusiasts might find it desirable.
However, since chess has been produced multiple times in the regular LEGO lineup, the likelihood of it being released from LEGO Ideas seems low.
