“The Italian Riviera” has advanced to the review stage of “LEGO® Ideas,” a project that turns LEGO® brick fans’ creations into products. If it passes the review, it will be released as a new LEGO® Ideas set between 2025 and 2026.
Italian Riviera
Confirmed to advance to the 2024 Second Round LEGO Ideas Product Review after gaining 10,000 supporters. ITALIAN RIVIERA: LEGO IDEAS Official
This creation features buildings inspired by the Italian coastline. The cobblestone streets give a European atmosphere and create a sense of realism, making it a stylish walkway that one would love to stroll along.
The red roof tiles are commonly used in buildings along the Mediterranean coast. These tiles are made of locally sourced terracotta, which is porous and well-suited for regions with low rainfall.
What is the Riviera?
“Riviera” is an Italian word meaning coast or shoreline. It also refers to the famous Mediterranean coastal region stretching from Toulon in southeastern France to La Spezia in northwestern Italy, known for its resort areas.
The author primarily drew inspiration from the particularly famous area called “Cinque Terre” within this region. Cinque Terre, meaning “Five Lands” in Italian, refers to five villages located on the northwestern Ligurian coast.
The laundry hanging on the pink building creates a scene reminiscent of something you might see in Lupin III. The motorcycle is, of course, likely to be a Vespa.
Grapes are growing on the blue building. One wonders if it’s common in Italy to cultivate grapes in such places. There’s also a slipway for boats. On the adjacent balcony, a citrus tree is planted as well.
The largest central building contains a kitchen, pizza oven, living room, and bedroom.
On the first floor, the kitchen shelves are lined with many spices, and in true Italian fashion, pasta is being cooked in a pot. The use of this particular piece to represent pasta is quite unique!
What Are the Chances of Becoming a Product?
The author, LEGOParadise, has primarily published moving creations and this is designer’s fourth entry to advance to the review stage.
Considering that another author’s work, also modeled after the Cinque Terre in the Italian Riviera, was just approved for production in the recently announced 2023 Third Review, it is unfortunately safe to say that the chances of this work passing the review are zero.

Buildings and local themes not related to key figures were previously difficult categories to pass in LEGO® Ideas reviews, but recently they have been getting approved more frequently. Therefore, this work would have had a fair chance if the timing were right.
Summary of 2024 Second Review Entries
If the projects that advanced to the 2024 Second Review pass the review, they are scheduled to be released as new LEGO(R) Ideas products in 2025-2026.
