“The Tennis Match” has secured a spot in the review process for LEGO Ideas, a project that turns LEGO block fan creations into actual products.
If it passes the review, it will be released as a new LEGO Ideas set between 2025 and 2026.
The Tennis Match
Confirmed to advance to the 2024 Second LEGO Ideas Product Review after gaining 10,000 supporters. The Tennis Match: LEGO IDEAS Official
The creation features an American-style brick building and a tennis court. The second-floor balcony has a mechanism that allows it to transform from a window state to an extended balcony configuration.
The setting is that a semifinal match will be held in a few days at a tennis court in the middle of town.
The first floor of the building is a gym, packed with various training equipment.
What are the chances of it becoming a product?
The creator, Bricky_Brick, is a regular designer with the highest number of entries in LEGO Ideas reviews. In the past, their Pirate Island design was successfully turned into a product.
Bricky_Brick is known for creating designs centered around modular building-style structures. This current work, which can be disassembled in a modular fashion, is very close to their usual concept.
Prohibited Category in BDP
The annual LEGO Ideas modular building set, which is released once a year, is highly anticipated by many fans. For the LEGO Group, it’s a flagship product that showcases their design prowess and high quality.
As a result, designs resembling modular buildings that could be confused with official LEGO products have been banned from entry in the “BrickLink Designer Program,” a sister project of LEGO Ideas, starting from “Series 6” beginning in September 2024.
Recently, LEGO Ideas has been more open to adopting non-licensed building designs that were previously less likely to be selected. However, due to the reasons mentioned above, it’s probable that modular building-style structures have a lower chance of being approved through LEGO Ideas.
While the current LEGO Ideas guidelines don’t explicitly list modular building-style creations as a prohibited category, it’s likely that they will continue to face difficulties in passing the review process.
Take on the Challenge of Modular Building Sets
The LEGO Icons Modular Building sets are stylish building collections that offer an enjoyable assembly experience with a touch of exotic flair. We highly recommend LEGO brick fans to give these a try at least once. They’re also great for parents and children to build together!
As of this article’s publication, there are three products currently available in this series. However, the Boutique Hotel and Jazz Club are particularly hard to obtain and are likely nearing the end of their production run. We recommend purchasing them while you still can.
