The revolutionary LEGO(R) brick animation film “Piece by Piece,” depicting the life of music icon Pharrell Williams, has been selected as the closing film of the 68th BFI London Film Festival, held from October 9 to October 20, 2024, as reported by Variety.

This film adopts an innovative approach by portraying Pharrell’s music career through LEGO(R) bricks and is directed by Morgan Neville, who won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature and is making his feature animation debut.

The film features guest appearances by Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and others in LEGO(R) brick form. It will depict Pharrell Williams’ life from his beginnings in Virginia Beach, through his early career as a producer with The Neptunes and performer with N.E.R.D, to becoming one of the most successful musicians today.

Not only does it showcase Pharrell Williams’ music career, but it is also expected to be a work that fully demonstrates creativity and innovation.

“Piece by Piece” will have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, which opens on September 5, 2024, followed by a release in the United States on October 11. It will be screened as the final film of the BFI London Film Festival at the Royal Festival Hall on October 20. The release date in Japan is yet to be determined.

There is speculation that the spaceship featured in “Piece by Piece” will be released as a LEGO(R) set in September, but this is not yet confirmed.
